The Perceived Affordances and Challenges in the Newly Introduced OKR-Based Performance Appraisal System in an Omani HEI

Performance appraisal (PA) is a valuable tool used by organizations to improve and enhance their employees’ competencies ensure organizational capability cope with dynamic world. The newly introduced Objectives Key Results (OKR) PA system in Oman has been source of concern controversial debate among governmental employees, particularly academics. This exploratory study aims address the following research questions: (1) What are perceived affordances OKR metrics? (2) difficulties have most academics experienced new system? (3) challenges coping requirements necessary data were collected through semi-structured interviews 11 academic staff members at University Technology Applied Sciences—Rustaq. findings this potential inform decisions line managers any developing performance incorporate types training suitable needs employees.
